MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015) affirms the ongoing fundamental shift in our healthcare system to one based on outcomes over volume.

MACRA became law April 16, 2015. It repealed the flawed sustainable growth rate formula and replaced the Value-Based Modifier, EHR Medicare Incentive Program (meaningful use), and the Physician Quality Rating System.

This new system of Medicare reimbursement furthers the evolution to value-based care and provides clinicians with two paths for reimbursement under the umbrella of the newly-established Quality Rating System (QRS). The two paths are the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and the Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM).

From solo practitioner to largest health plan, everyone must understand and stay abreast of the latest MACRA developments. Check back often for updates.
