Geneia's Shelley Riser to Speak at NADP Annual Conference
September 17, 2019
Orlando, FL – Geneia, a healthcare analytic solutions and services company that is simplifying the evolution to value-based care, announced today that Shelley Riser, vice president of consulting services and clinical innovations, is speaking at the National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) annual conference. Riser joins Chris Davis, vice president of ancillary services for Capital BlueCross, and Jeff Schwab, vice president of marketing at Dominion National, to discuss how preventive dental care can lower health costs for chronic disease patients.
Riser, Davis and Schwab will present findings from a recent study indicating that people with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease, who received preventive dental care covered by Capital BlueCross’ BlueCross Dental benefits were found to have fewer costly emergency room visits and hospital stays. The research compared medical costs and utilization between Capital BlueCross members with BlueCross Dental coverage who have chronic conditions and have received preventive dental services versus those who have not received preventive dental services. “As a clinician, I know firsthand how important coordinated and regular preventive care is to good health,” said Riser. “This study shows the importance of preventive dental care to reducing avoidable emergency visits and hospitalizations among the chronically-ill population.”
The presentation, How Preventive Dental Care Can Help Lower Costs for Chronic Disease Patients, takes place at 4:15 pm on September 17th. For more information about the NADP annual conference, which takes place September 16-19, 2019, visit: https://www.nadpconverge.org/home.
