Privacy Statement

Effective October 1, 2019

This Privacy Statement discloses how Geneia LLC (collectively with its affiliates, “Geneia” “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles and protects the information obtained from the users (“users” or “you”) use of Geneia.com (the “Site”).  This Privacy Statement does not apply to other Geneia platforms, including but not limited to the Theon® platform, nor to other Geneia product or service offerings, including but not limited to The Geneia InstituteSM.

Geneia respects your right to privacy.  When you visit our Site, we may collect information on two different levels about your visit:

1. Anonymous statistics collected as you browse the Site; and

2. Personal information you knowingly give us.

We want you to be aware of how we collect and handle information on our Site. Please see below for details on our privacy policy:

1. What information is collected and where is it stored?

Anonymous statistics collected as you browse the Site:
Geneia may automatically collect anonymous statistics as you browse the Site in the form of cookies and other similar technologies to analyze trends, to administer the Site, improve our products and services, for marketing purposes, for improving users’ experience on the Site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.  This information includes traffic data, including a user’s IP address, domain server, type of computer, and type of web browser, and movements around the Site.

Personal information you knowingly give us:
Personally identifiable information includes information such as your name or email address.  In general, Geneia does not collect personally identifiable information from users, except when you knowingly provide such information as the result of the use of one or more of the features on the Site, such as submitting a contact form.

Security and Storage:
Geneia takes precautions to protect its users' personal nonpublic information. When users submit sensitive information to us, the information is protected both online and offline. When a login page or form asks users to enter sensitive information, that information is protected with encryption software, specifically SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) with high encryption (128 bit level). While on a secure page, such as the general inquiry form, the lock icon on the bottom of the web browser becomes "locked." While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, Geneia also takes steps to protect user information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. Geneia employees must use password-protected screen savers when they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password to regain access to your information. In addition, all employees are kept up-to-date on Geneia security and privacy practices. The servers that store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment and encrypted at rest and in transit.

2. What happens when I provide personally identifiable information on this Site?

When you knowingly provide your personally identifiable information, we will only use your information to respond to you regarding the reason that you contacted us.  We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request.

3. What are cookies and how does Geneia use them?

A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to help us improve your access to our Site and identify repeat visitors to our Site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you may not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our Site.  Cookies can also enable us to personalize the experience for users on our Site by remembering their browsing history and delivering content specific to their needs and interests. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our Site.

4. What happens if you select “Do Not Track” option provided by your web browser?

This Site may not respond to a web browser’s Do Not Track signals.  Your selection of the “Do Not Track” option provided by your web browser may not have any effect on our collection of cookie information.  If you have concerns about this collection of cookie information, please call 866.267.9894 and ask to speak with our Privacy Officer.

5. Do you sell my personally identifiable information to companies that are not an affiliate of Geneia?

  • You specifically authorize Geneia to share your information with another company.
  • We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our web site.
  • Disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of customers, employees, or property.
  • If you provide personally identifiable information at an event Geneia sponsors with another company, or if you register on a co-sponsored web site, you may be providing the personally identifiable information to the co-sponsor. Review the privacy statement at the event or on the co-sponsored Site to learn how the partner uses this information. Be assured that Geneia uses this information in accordance with this privacy policy.
